I used to get a lot of flack from a college ex about how I put cottage cheese on my salad. He thought it was “fattening.” No, it isn’t. What the hell did he know? But here are 6 truths about cottage cheese:
1.) It can help prevent insulin resistance.
2.) It can promote bone strength and enhance bone health.
3.) It is packed with casein protein, which promotes muscle gain and helps prevent muscle breakdown.
4.) It can help you lose weight.
5.) It contains Vitamin B, calcium, phosphorus, and selenium.
6.) It can be PERFECTLY paired with berries or melon (and of course, greens).
I personally like to drizzle my cottage cheese with olive oil and a sprinkle of sea salt for taste — yum!
